چکیده

mean age of 50.7 yrs [7]. The most common histological subtypes are hybrid oncocytic (50%) and chromophobe (34%) renal cell carcinoma, while clear cell, oncocytoma and papillary renal cell cancer are less frequently found [7]. Radiographic screening is recommended, with a typical strategy involving abdominal computed tomography and/or renal ultrasound at the time of diagnosis, followed by interval screening every 3– 5 yrs [8]. Parenchyma-sparing surgery is recommended given the risk of development of further tumours [7]. In line with these recommendations, all participants in the study by FRÖHLICH et al. [1] were screened for kidney manifestations by abdominal ultrasound and none were identified.

Comparative analysis of the bronchodilator response measured by impulse oscillometry (IOS), spirometry and body plethysmography in asthmatic children.

BACKGROUND Asthma is common among young children. The assessment of respiratory resistance by the impulse oscillometry system (IOS), based on the superimposition of respiratory flow by short-time impulses, requires no patient active collaboration. AIM We evaluated the baseline repeatability and bronchodilator response of IOS indices in preschool children, their correlation with spirometry and...

A Comparison of Impulse Oscillometry and Spirometry Values in Patients with Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

BACKGROUND The relationship between gastroesophageal reflux (GERD) and airway diseases is still a matter of debate. Oscillometry is an objective, independent tool for the evaluation of airway resistance. The main purpose of this study is to compare spirometry and oscillometry results before and after treatment by a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) in a group of GERD patients who have no respiratory ...

Comparison of Impulse Osillometry System and Spirometry for Diagnosis of Obstructive Lung Disorders

BACKGROUND Obstructive lung disease is a growing health problem, especially in developed countries. This study aimed to compare Impulse Osillometry System (IOS) and Spirometry for evaluation of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and asthma. MATERIALS AND METHODS The study groups contained 87 healthy people, 87 asthmatic patients and 56 COPD patients. Spirometry (FVC, FEV1, FEV1/FVC) and IO...

Exercise induced changes in spirometry and impulse oscillometry measurements in persistent allergic rhinitis.

The link between allergic rhinitis and asthma is well known. Bronchial hyperreactivity (BHR) may be present in rhinitis. The present study was aimed to compare airway responses in patients with rhinitis symptoms alone following exercise challenge, and to determine relationship of two different respiratory function tests.98 subjects with rhinitis were investigated by spirometry and impulse oscil...

Application of impulse oscillometry in respiratory system evaluation in elderly patients.

INTRODUCTION Spirometry, which is a basic diagnostic tool of the respiratory system, may cause problems to patients of advanced age because of required cooperation and specific respiratory manoeuvres. Impulse oscillometry (IOS) may be an interesting alternative for spirometry as the examination is made during quiet breathing and gives information about resistive properties of the respiratory sy...
